I would prefer a Seagate 7200.10 but I own a WD becuase it was 5 bucks cheaper at the time and i was on a VERY tight budget. They are both good and my WD gives me no problems but all in all seagate is a better name.

I would get one of these as they are slighly faster than their WD counterparts.

Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3250620AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

Although WD is known to make quieter drives so its a toss up. Either one is completely fine.

i was planning to get this one Canada Computers - Hard Drives > S-ATA Drives : Western Digital Caviar SATA II (WD1600JS) 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Buffer (OEM).
but if i just add $13 more i get a 16mb cache and a 250GB instead of a 160GB Canada Computers - Hard Drives > S-ATA Drives : Western Digital (WD2500KS) Caviar 250GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Buffer (OEM).

BTW im getting it from Canadacomputers not online

get whatevers cheaper at the time, their both about the same. I don't notice any noise from my WD, but then again i cna't hear anyhting over the fan on my GPU.

Both R good names you can get 1 with a 16 meg cache for about the same price as the 8 meg version this is quite a performance boost so whatever drive you get this would be more important than which brand you choose :nerd:

Seagate drives are the most reliable. period.
Plus, their 7200.10 drives are faster than the WD's

Both good. WD may give you better bang for your buck...Seagate generally quieter...i own 2 WD's; and they have been solid for 2 years.
