Default What do you guys think of this build?

Motherboard- GIGABYTE GA-EX38-DQ6 LGA 775 Intel X38

CPU- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache

RAM- G.SKILL 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
3 GB (Total)

Hard Drive- Seagate Barracuda 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA

DVD-Burner - Pioneer Black 20X DVD+R

Power Supply- CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX ATX12V V2.2 550W

Video Card - XFX GeForce 9600GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express

Chassis - COOLER MASTER COSMOS 1000 RC-1000-KSN1-GP Black/
Silver Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case


Total Cost for the build - $1200 (without Monitor)


Lemme know your opinion.. Also everything would be running on stock, gaming would be light if at all and Adobe Photoshop CS2 would be my favorite task :happy:

If you aren't really doing any gaming then don't get a 9600GT. That's too high-end for what you need. Just get an 8500 or something along that line.

And why 3GB of memory you could just get 2 sets of 2GB instead. Other than that looks good.

I was thinking of having enough ram so that the system would handle multitasking and memory intensive applications well.

the 9600 is fine for what you're doing, also yeah i would say either get 2gb or get a second set of the 2gb you have for 4gb.

2GB is fine for that. If you're going to be multitasking 3DSMax, Crysis, and Photoshop at the same time then you should upgrade. Other than that stay with 2GB and you can always buy more later. RAM is the easiest thing to install in your motherboard.

I agree about the video card get something lower end.

2gb should be fine...if you can always buy another 1x2gb if you feel the need.
