I have put this system to gether from BargainHardware.co.uk and have come up with this.

HP XW6400 ..

------------

Duel socket running two:

2.33Ghz Quad Core Xeon (E5345) 1066\8Mb ..

16Gb 4x4Gb 667 DDR2 ..

Two SATA II 80Gb HDD's 7200RPM

DVD\RW at 5 and a half inch

XFX Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 with HDMI

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS 7.1

Legit with restore partition HP Windows 7 64 Bit.

------------

£259.99

------------
What do you think of the Price and Speck for that price folks.

HP XW6400 Quad Core Workstation | Custom Configure

This would be for Folding primarily but they have also a i5 Laptop Lenovo T410.

What do you need a sound card for on a folding system?

The reason I was going to put the sound card in was I could imagine this spec and system becoming my main system. I know its a HP work station but I would of took my current system and found a use for it.

I know its imo a bit dated but I was looking to make one purchase and since I can't save for S*** I would\mabie buy it when I'm paid.

Seriously, a 250 quid video card will run circles around this for folding.

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...14&subcat=1010

10quid more, and probably 250k ppd. My 2p hex(24 cores) at 3.0Ghz made 60k ppd.

AMD used to have a reputation for being the best video cards for folding but as for today, I'm not sure anymore

That was mainly before CUDA released / became popular.
