Default What do i need for vista?

Can you upgrade to vista premium from XP home edition, even if it does cost extra money or something? I am looking into getting a new pc, i would like to get a custom top end gaming pc, though i have heard that in order to get vista you need to buy a pc from a company such as dell or HP to be given an upgrade? I really dont understand what i can do and help would be fantastic please.

You can get Vista for any medium to high end computer. Anything with a decent video card. New PCs are coming with upgrade coupons, but I wouldn't upgrade until they have all the bugs worked out. Also wait for DX10 until you build a computer.
