The $196 board supports SLI. The other doesn't.

they both support SLI, but the second one is designed better for it

Well, don't you have to mod the first board to use SLI?

Yea, the second one supports SLI and the first one doesn't.

I hear you can't mod the Ultra-Ds anymore.

If you want SLI you better get the one that says it supports. Like Flanker said you could an Ultra-Dud.

Well im asking because in the bord description it say that it has 2 pci-express 16 slots on the ultra-D.

Yea, and they aeren't necessarily for graphics cards either. You might be able to put another type of card in there, like a Uber-crazy sound card or a PhysX card. I'm not aware of anything else that uses a PCI 16x slot, besides a graphics card, but theres always room in the future.
