What is the difference between a SATA and a SATA2 Hard drive? This would be on a Gaming computer too.

They are different speeds. SATA2 is faster. Most modern motherboard supports both.

the more expensive one of the two has perpendicular writing technology. I just bought the the as model but have not insalled it yet. I think the AS model is the less expensive one. I do not know what perpendicular writing technology is.
