Default Western Digital 750GB review

Finally, WD has released its first 750GB hard drive with perpendicular recording

The new hard drive is available on newegg
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

And from here you can see a review for it
Western Digital's Caviar SE16 750GB hard drive - The Tech Report - Page 1

It is faster than 750GB Seagate 7200.10, and it beats Raptor in some cases

Perpendicular recording - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is the first hard drive from westren digital that use Perpendicular Recording, all the others use Longitudinal Recording. But other hard drive manufacturers like Seagate and Hitachi have used perpendicular recording long time ago.

Perpendicular recording is a newer technology, and it is capable of delivering much more storage density than longitudinal recording
