wow, this board moves fast hahah, i should stop editing and just post >.>. heres what i edited in above:

ok, PZEROFGH's setup is just a tiny, tiny bit pricy, but thats no big deal. the only things i found odd was that theres no sound card (which i think is needed for the speakers i want to get) and the video card is a really nice one (i think, its 400 dollars compared to the 60 dollar one i picked lol). on another forum i asked for help on, one of the people said that a really nice video card wasnt needed for video editing. was he wrong?

(/edit)

ack, and i still have to buy an OS = [. so, it look like i'll be spending a little more than i wanted, but thats to be expected hahah. i totaly forgot about an OS. oh well, its just money.

ok, had to add a dvd burner and firefire port and the grand total with shipping and handling and taxes and all that fun stuff is...(drumroll) 2143 dollars. a bit more than i wanted to spend, and i had to downgrade my speakers and keep my old monitor, but hopefully this setup will be well worth the money = ].

Hard drive size does matter.

DV-AVI's take up 3.5megabytes for each second.

take off that 7800 gt dude u doing video edidting. thoses cards are for gamign. the card u had at top is fine. Danm i hate when ppl tell others to get sh!t they dotn need. if your lower your video card u can get more hds whic u will need like an external one and u can add a dvd burner on. Lower your card is overkill for video editing are u gooan even game with this if not lower your card waste fo money.

he should get a used opengl workstation card. That should streamline his effects in After Effects and or Premiere.

thats what i thought, and you're the third person to tell me that hahah. i downgraded to the 6800 but even that is a bit over kill for what i'll be doing. i dont play games like....at all hahah. i play gunz and maple story very very rarely, but i can play those fine with whatever POS is in my computer right now lol. so i'll shave some money off their, upgrade my speakers, get a audio card, and change the harddrives to two 250gb.

i also upgraded my RAM to OCZ platinum. i may get one more stick if the price isnt too high after doing the above = ].
