Default Video Card Upgrade

How is everyone doing, been a few months since my last post but i like to check in every now and again. I haven't been keeping up as much as I would like with the new advances in technology so I will ask for the help at the place I truly trust.

Well, looks like it is time for another graphics card update. I love my 7600gt, but I'm looking for something that can handle directx10, also not sure if i misread but is there an 11 on the way soon?

So anyway, it seems like most people are starting to suggest ATI now, as opposed to nvidia. I have been looking into this a little and looks like the ati 4850 might be the way to go for me. Seems like a nice mix between price and power. But for reference that is about my price range.

One of my main questions, is this the time to buy? Are we looking at some sort of new price drop to happen? I'm not woried aout a new technology unless its in my price range. If i need to wait a month or two for something big to happen i can stick with my 7600gt till than.

I highly doubt there will be a price drop on the 4850's. They are already dirt cheap, you can't ask for much more.

Newegg.com - Recertified: XFX HD485XYDF Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card

That's the HD4850 to get right now....

Sorry, guess i should have clarified, I meant a price drop on any of the slightly pricier cards. That is one of the cards I was looking at Sora so thanks for helping me with me on that. I guess I should specify thought that I will be using it at 1280x1024. So i'm pretty much thinking everyone is going to suggest the 4850 though. I trust newegg but never have bought recertified, is that an ok way to go?

I would trust recertified. It comes with a 1 year warranty at least through XFX. If you want you can spend the extra 25 to get peace of mind however I wouldn't. Graphics cards as long they aren't abused last a long time usually. XFX is a top notch company too

At 1280x1024 a single 4850 should give you good frame rates on the games out there.

4850 would be a good choice.

+1 to this also, XFX is one of the best brands around along with EVGA and BFG.
