Exclamation Re: Is this Video card decent for gamiing?

i just asked pretty mush the same question and was told to buy the 8600gt (which i did) as it performs allot better.(i got the fatality version and i performs awesomely)
Canada Computers - Video Cards > PCI-Express Cards > Powered By nVidia : XFX GeForce 8600GT FATAL1TY nVidia 8600GT Chipset (620Mhz) 256MB (1.7Ghz) DDR3 Dual DVI PCI-Express Graphics Card.

Canada Computers - Video Cards > PCI-Express Cards > Powered By nVidia : XFX GeForce 8600GT nVidia 8600GT Chipset (540Mhz) 256MB (1.4Ghz) GDDR3 Dual DVI PCI-Express Graphics Card .

p.s. and the fatality has a silent cooler, has to be worth the extra + faster speeds

8600 isnt that good for gaming.

What games are you planning to play and how well do you want them to play?
You could wait for the newer dx10 cards that are comming out soon.
They should be comparable to the 7900 series.

if ur an ATI fan n want to stick with ATI n r willing to wait for better cards, wait for the R670 to come out this fall or wait for the R700 to come out early 2008, because the HD 2900 XT consumes too many watts, about 240-250w.

the R670 is a dual-core GPU btw ^_^.

Agreed. However, they lack DX10 support.

If you plan to have the card for quite a while, DX10 support is a must.
If you plan to upgrade in the near future, DX9 will do just fine for you.

...and both the 8600 and 2600 perform SO well in DX10
