Which one is better? what res do you play at?

most people around here would say the 4870 1 GB but if it were me i would buy the GTX 260.

they are about equal. depends on which company you would prefer really. Some argue that the ATI one is better but it's usually by 1-3 frames if any at all. I personally prefer nvidia cooling n drivers over ati....

plus i really like the physx stuff that you can download that comes with the card. some of that stuff is pretty cool.

I'd get the gtx 260 since it has a $30mir and can do physx which might matter in some games.

my vote is the Core 216, i'm going to be (hopefully) getting this one in a few weeks. i recommend it.

Well, the 4870 1GB is outperforming the gtx260 core216 now. After driver updates ATI has been able to increase its performance - look at some very recent bechmarks.

Still, its a pretty tight finish though.

^ what i have gathered from those benchmarks is that it really only outperforms it when there is a high amount of AA.

I would get the HD 4870 1gb since it is faster. Physx isn't much of a incentive to go with nvidia at this point since most games don't support it.
