I actually just noticed that this MB only has two pci-slots. I need at least 3 for my soundcard/HD tv tuner and PCI fan card.

a lot of people will tell u go quad for futureproof, but i stuck with a e6550 cuz no games right now, not even crysis is quad core optimized.

so its your choice on the CPU.

RAM, i would get these:
Canada Computers - Memory > Desktop Memory > DDR2 800 PC2-6400+ : OCZ (OCZ2P800R22GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Platinum XTC Revision 2 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kit.
perform the same really, if you really want reapers:
Canada Computers - Memory > Desktop Memory > DDR2 800 PC2-6400+ : OCZ (OCZ2RPR8002GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Reaper HPC Edition 2GB (2x1024MB) EPP Dual Channel Kit.

these are cheaper.
Harddrive:
Canada Computers - Hard Drives > Desktop Drives > 3.5" SATA Drives : Western Digital Caviar (WD5000AAKS) 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Buffer (OEM).
Cooling:
Canada Computers - Cooling > CPU Cooling : Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro for Intel Socket 775.
Videocard:
Infonec Computers - Computer parts Canada, PC Components, laptop computers, motherboards, processors, CPU’s and much more : Sapphire HD 3870 512M GDDR4 PCI-E Dual DL-DVI/TVO Lite

but i put together stores that are in my area, where do you live or do you plan to buy online?

i think he should stick with quad, as it will give him a longer time before he has to upgrade again

hmm, i don't recommend you SLI as its only a 40% increase (average) in performance, just get one good card and you will be fine.
get this motherboard
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

i've heard only good things about that memory

since you already have a 250gb you should get another of the same drive and run a RAID setup
wow thats a nice price for side window + full aluminum + removable mobo tray, they usually run more on the more expensive side

you have to buy 1 or 2 120mm for the second one, the first one comes with one and is cheaper and almost as good

Hey guys thanks for the input so far. I just have a few questions.

Invisible what advantages does the MOBO you suggested have over the one i suggested?

I'm not really sure what you mean by "how many amps are on the 12V" so here is the product link Enermax Technology Corporation

If i'm going with a non-SLI MOBO i might spring for a 512 8800GT.

Can you recommend a mid-tower case with more fan spots?

My current case has 4 80MM fan spots and i find it runs a little hot.

EDIT: Reading more reviews on newegg. Only 1 avaliable 3 pin connector for case fan

How will the parts i suggested handle overclocking?

Thanks

34Amps on 2 rails

@ IMB/PS1

DC Output --> +12V1 +12V2
18A 18A
408W (34A)

I am confused also, shouldn't 18 + 18 be 36? lol
but it says 34 amps I guess 34A

maybe its max of 18A on a single rail and a combined amp of 34A max on both

nice build btw

Anyone know where i can get that MB in canada

I used one of those wattage calculator's. My current build will run me around 575W without any overclocking. So i think i'm looking at a 600W-700W PSU. Any suggestions?

I was reading the hardware guide for choosing a PSU. I noticed the "not many PSU's Look cool and run good" What about this one?

Canada Computers - Power Supplies/Management > Desktop Power Supplies : OCZ (OCZ700GXSSLI) GameXStream 700 Watt Power Supply, Dual GPU, SLI compable.

Also now currently thinking about this MB

EVGA nForce 650i Ultra Motherboard - T1 Version, NVIDIA nForce 650i Ultra, Socket 775 , ATX, Audio, PCI Express, Gigabit LAN, USB 2.0, Serial ATA, RAID 122-CK-NF66-T1 in Canada at TigerDirect.ca

watts have very little affect on the matter
what does matter is the amount of amps on the 12V rail

this 520 watt can handle more than some 700+ watt ones
Corsair 520hx

Ok so how do i find out how many amps per rail my current PSU has?

EDIT: Nvm i see 18A+18A Per rail for a total of 34AMPS.

From the guides posted on these boards i'm going to need a little bit more. I plan to do some moderate overclocking and have tons of extra peripherals such as usb wireless and headphones.

Then again i'm torn from spending the extra 120 bucks. when mine might be enough. I guess my question is if my power needs exceeds what my PSU can do what can happen? Can my parts fry from not having enough juice?

From what i've seen most Decent PSU's have 18A on the rails. What's different is how many rails it has. My current one has 2 while your corsair has 3 and the ocz i linked has 4.
