If you can spend money for X1950XT then get one of those video cards

These ^^ are cheaper than X1950XT and they perform better than X1950GT

The 7900GS is very close to the X1950PRO after both are overclocked and at the price of an X1950PRO these days it's very hard to recommend a 7900GS. The 7900GS is a sick overclocker and I own one but for 20 bucks more the X1950XT makes it cry mommy and thats why i'm selling my GS soon and grabbing one heh.

Say if you game at 1280x1024, would a x1950pro or x1950xt be enough for maxed settings AA/AF and what not?

It should. I have the pro, and it plays everything maxed at 1280x1024. Well at least for me.
