Default velociraptor + random disk in raid?

Hey, probably a stupid question.

I currently have a velociraptor 300gig hdd, is it possible to run this in raid config with a random 7200rpm drive as long as it's over 300gig in size? Would this give any benefits or disadvantages?

Default Re: velociraptor + random disk in raid?

yes, you can raid with a different drive. no it doesnt have to be the same size.

although if youre going to do say, raid 0, then the 7200rpm will slow the raptor down because it will work at the speed of the slowest drive.

why dont you just use the raptor as a main os/programs drive, and another separate drive (7200rpm or whatever you get) as a data storage drive?
