upgrading ram

I put another gb of ram in of the same thing i was using but i put it in the wrong way and it smells but the computer still works!!!

I think i fried that gb of ram or my motherboard slot but i can't tell which!!!

Take one out, restart and see if you get beeps. Repeat with the other one.
