Upgrading P4 1.8GHz PC

I have a Pentium 4 1.8 processer and I was wondering is there anything you can do to make it perform better
Really dont have the cash laying around right now to get the 3.0 that I really want or higher so any ideas would help

I guess you could overclock it... But if it's that old, odds are you don't have a good cooling system.

Well I have a 500 wat power supply with a big fan
does that count?

How can I find out what temp my computer is at? Any programs I can use

I don't think this qualifies as "high performance" and no the psu does not count. I don't think there's much you can do that would be worth it. Buying cooling for that cpu wouldn't be smart. Spend the money on upgrades. what are you trying to do with this computer?

You could probably get 2.2 ghz out of it with stock cooling depending on your RAM and Motherboard specs.

you can easily OC that thing to 2.0 at least and up to 2.2 and 2.4 on stock.

someone told me that OC it would mess up the life of the processer
i might as well keep saving up and just wait and build something nicer
