Which mother board would you recommend if not a totally different one?

I would recommend the MSI P6N Platinum:
Newegg.com - MSI P6N SLI Platinum LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

It's one of the best and known 650i chipset motherboards. It also performs better than the 680i chipset, in SLI performance.

The P6N Platinum or P5N-E is what I would go with.

I am not a fan of the 680i chipset really.
