hey everyone. I'm upgrading my motherboard (Gigabyte Pro-SLI NVIDIA nForce4 SLI AMD Motherboard) and my my processor, which is an AMD Socket 939, clocks at 1.9 GHz. Now, I was told that a few months, Socket 939s would be all but phased out, so I was looking into an upgrade for both motherboard and processor. I looked at Athlons AM2 sockets, but I read that they are fairly new and have a kind of hit or miss record (i.e. Either people tell me they work like a charm, or they bomb miserably; there's no middle ground.) So, I was hoping to get some opinions on a socket to look into or if the AM2 are good. Any assistance would be hot. oh, and I have a $800 budget for just these two.

If you have $800, I would suggest getting a core 2 duo processor, a nice motherboard, and you'll need ddr2 RAM, that's all easily do-able for under $800.

Could you recommend a good motherboard? I'm still a bit new to this stuff. :)
