Upgrading help

hey guys im planning on upgrading my pc's OS from crappy 32 bit Windows 7 Starter to (windows 7 Ultimate 64bit)

and im also planning on changing my cpu From a AMD PHENOM II X2 550 BE @3.1ghz to a ( AMD PHENOM II X6 1055T @2.8ghz)

now my question is What should i do before changing OS, and if i will have to do a CLEAN install. And also another question is, If i change my cpu will my computer have any problems detecting it? ( the cpu im planning to buy is same socket AM3)

Please help guys i only have 3 days to choose parts and what not.

and here are my current specs if needed:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x2 550 BE @3.1ghz
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake spin-q
GPU: Ati HD Radeon 5750 1gb
Ram: 3gb ddr3
mobo: ASUS ROG crosshair III formula
OS: Windows 7 32 bit
( i know i built it horrible but what can i say im a noob)

As for the processor, just get the newest bios.

As fior switch to Ultimatde... can't hlp you.

how would i go about getting newest bios?? ( im noob )

go to your motherboard manufacturer's website and get there BIOS flashing program, make sure to read their how to carefully, you don't want to screw up flashing your BIOS
