Do you know how to overclock? if not, you should learn, that'd help your choice a lot, especially with a socket 939 setup, you can save a lot from buying small and overclocking. My 3700+ (which i got for 65) is at 2.9ghz and it starts at 2.2ghz. There isn't a 939 single core processor at stock that can compete at this, I believe. Anyway, if you do get an opteron 165, you can get it pretty high up there, probably as high if not higher than a x2 4400+.
