This has been our home/central PC for about 3 years and I just wanted to know if there were any upgrades possible to make this PC play average games and low settings with decent fps. (COD2, TF2, etc.) This will just be kinda sorta temporary until I decide to build my new system. I know the integrated GFX card sucks ***, maybe that's what i should replace?

Help is appreciated ;)

I'd be willing to spend somewhere around $125 for a GFX card, i believe that's somewhere around a 9800 for cards? But i'm afraid of issues with that fitting in my case so maybe a GT 240 or something?

9800gt and 8800gt are the same thing.
just bust out a ruler and measure how much room you have to work with :)

your computer is this model
HP-Pavilion FQ512AA-ABA m9402f

correct?

with a 300 watt power supply, you most likely need a power supply too.
unless you grab something like a GT 240

the 9800gt is significantly more powerful than the GT 240.

so if you can stretch your budget a bit, say $150, you can grab a power supply also
ASUS EN9800GT/DI/512MD3 GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
or
ASUS CuCore Series EAH4850 CUCORE TOP/2DI/1GD3 Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
+
CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

at any rate, the GT 240 (make sure you grab a GDDR 5 version) will be a big step up from integrated.

Though I got my gt240 for free I definately wish it would have been ddr5 but if you have the room get the 9800 in the long run you'll be happier.

I played BF2, MW2 with the 512 MB version of that card, MW2 no problems running at high settings, BF2 needed to tune down setting to medium. but overall BF2 still looked good to my untrained eyes and game play was fluid and enjoyable. MW2 was just awesome.

edit: no fan control on these xfx cards, fan always run @ 100%.
I have a very quiet PC, so it was bothering the **** out of me.
everyone's noise tolerance level is different, maybe it won't bother you?
