2 dies on one pcb > two pcbs

hrm, no i didnt know x38 was crossfire, i dont really keep up with things too much in the intel camp.
are the xfx and evga the only two 780i mobos availibe?

4GB Ballistix Tracer
2x Ati 3870 OR 2x Ati 3870x2
Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB
Samsung DVD SATA Drive
Antec P182
Corsair HX620
SAMSUNG 245BW
Logitech G9
Logitech G11
Logitech X-540
True w/ Scythe Fan
Onboard Sound (I think thats its good with the Maximus)

I think there's a new 780i board from ASUS, called the ASUS P5N-T Deluxe. Link - ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - P5N-T Deluxe

Haven't done this in a while. May I suggest:

Case - Lian-Li PC-A70B Full Tower
Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 OEM
Motherboard - XFX MB-N780-ISH9 nForce 780i SLI
Memory - Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2-800
Graphics cards - EVGA 8800GTS 512 x2
Power supply - PC Power and Cooling Silencer 610W
Hard drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 750GB
Optical drive - ASUS Black 20X SATA DVD Burner
Heatsink - Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme w/Cooler Master 120mm 2-fan pack (for push/pull method)
Monitor - Gateway FHD2400 24" 3ms
Keyboard - Logitech G11
Mouse - Logitech G5 w/ the two side buttons
Sound card - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1
Speakers - Logitech THX Z-5300e 280 Watts RMS 5.1

Around $2,900-3,000.

I'd definitly say wait to see how the new cards play out. If ATI's 3870x2 is on par with the 9800GX2 i would say your best bet would be to pick up a maximus and 2 3870's for crossfire/quadfire w/e its called. Keeping in mind, crossfire beats out SLI on so many levels. Even if the GX2 squeeks by the 3870x2, when it comes to SLI vs Crossfire setup crossfire will win.

thats true i might be swayed to buy the new cards form ati...i forget that crossfire at 24" resolution performs quite a bit better than sli.

Where is the best place to buy a TRUE? Any idea why newegg discontinued it? Also, wouldn't it be better to go with a higher cfm fan than those? Wouldn't one of these be better? Newegg.com - Scythe DFS123812-3000 "ULTRA KAZE" 120 x 38 mm Case Fan - Retail same price and 38mm thickness gives it a high static pressure.

I bought mine from svc.com. Excellent PC accessory site.

lol...If you don't mind the noise, that would be a good fan. But in my opinion, Thermalright products do good with low cfm fans. It's not necessary for high cfm, because they're high quality heatsinks.
