well as far as bus talking to the gpu yes it would because it is more of a direct connection, but then it would have more latency talking to the graphics memory because it the must travel through the fsb. i think that its is faster the way it is now. and sense current cards aren't anywhere near to using the full bandwidth of pcix 16 then i don't think there is much to worry about for awhile.

well, it could have its own bus to the video memory, so that wouldn't be a problem.

It would be good being able to upgrade the video memory, but I don't think it is going to happen as it is just not necessary. Having them in single card form is alot easier, and the companies make more money. If nV start releasing CPU style GPUs, and they also release video ram to go in DIMM type slots, all the board parteners who make the actual cards are cut out of the industry, which would result in alot of unhappy companies.

As zmatt said, PCI-E is plenty fast enough for current cards.
