Nice setup. eVGA..way to go. Asus is a good board BUT get the premium because the fans SUCK on the Deluxe. They fail/fall off/etc. What PSU you using? Whats the big deal with sound cards anyway? I don't think I've ever owned one...I have a 5.1 system the x-530 but mp3 are only 2 channel so i just split them.

I don't like ASUS, but that's personal so I won't say anything (oh wait, I did)

Other wise looks good... Why get a 250 gig ATA100 when a SATA one is $3 more? then you ditch ribbion cable all together.

That psu is awsome. I have it.. it's sweet and looks awsome.

The cooler is pretty sweet, but the Artic Cooling Freezer 64 pro performs better and for almost half the price. Same w/ the Tt typhoon but it's only $10 cheaper.

Same w/ the Opteron suggestion. Get a 165 if you can spare $25.

I was debating using opteron instead.

165 will be fine? No reason to pay the extra $ for the 170?

Use this for 2nd hard drive instead?

Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3250824AS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

10 bucks more.

Thanks for info on coolers, going to look into those.

I'm trusting some posts here about the sound card, will report back later about whether or not its worth it.

Wow. Not much i can add.

I totally agree with Mk97 about the Hard drive. Get a SATA one. You will be much happier.

You only need that CPU heatsink if you are going to overclock. And if you are going to overclock, go with the opteron 165. Better for overclocking. If you do get that Heatsink, dont forget the Arcit Silver 5

That is a great sound card.

great looking setup. Hope you have a bunch of room for that case. I have it and love it but it is giant. runs cool and has plenty of space for all of your goodies. may want to consider a second raptor to run in raid0 for fun ;-)

Also if you go with the Seagate 250G SATA, you'll get a 5 Year warranty instead of 3 years with Western Digital.

The 74G WD Raptor you should definetly get. Just install you're OS, games and appz. Everything else (non-performance) put on the Seagate. (Put your windows paging file on the Seagate also).

note: I recommend WIN XP PRO for any and all gaming PC's.
XP Home is more for simple Web/Email/Word Processing PC's.

Very nice build... 8.5 out of 10
