Question Is there much of a difference between single and dual channel RAM?

Hey,

Just debating where to use a motherboard that limits the RAM to single channel. Can anyone here tell me if there is much of a difference between single and dual channel RAM?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Freddy

it's about a 5% hit in performance with the core 2 duo, so it's not a great problem but every little bit counts

Dual channel doubles the theoretical transfer rate. in 800mhz ram if it is dual channel it goes from 6,400 mb/s (single) to 12,800 mb/s.

Here's a great article on it--
