SHOOT! Now my dvd drive won't read any disks!! anyone know why that is? the disk spins and stuff but nothing pops up and it says theres no disk in the drive..? It was working last night!

The reason your ram usage is so high is that unlike XP vista preloads memory rather than releasing it. Its not actually being used persay, but vista keeps it at the ready, so it looks like it is in use. As far as the DVD drive, when in doubt reboot. Might want to check the connection also. Maybe thats what was grinding If its a sata drive it could have come loose.
