Default Surround sound or High quality headphones.

so im wondering, which would be best. i mainly play games. and i was looking at gettin a X-fi card (not for a while as i need to finish my build) and was looking at what output to get for the sound card. should i get 7.1, 5.1 etc surround sound speakers? or a really decent pair of headphones?

What is your main use for this? Watching DVD's = surround sound. Casual gaming = surround sound/ "5.1" headphones (NOT recommended). Serious gaming = High quality stereo headphones.

Read this guide, it will help you pick what type of headphones are best for you:

£1 = $1.79 approx.

I would be looking to buy a decent Sound card around max $200

and probably surround sound speakers.

ok whe u play games are u gonna be using speakers most of the time or headphones because u dont want to disturb people in the house?
for headphones id suggest bose they re really light and comfortable for long hours ( i use them for gaming)
i would suggest not getting creative speakers
but best thing to do is go to the store and listen and pick whatever sounds best to u
but in my opinion the chart is like this
1 logitech
2ltec lansing
3lipsch
4reative
so if u gonna play loud go and get speakers that u will enjoy listening to

stay away from all those chrome/LED raibow spinnin blinkin sht speakers
cuz all that stuff is there to attract cuztomers not more

but id really like speakers more than headphones. but i may get headphones in the future.

are these decent with an X-FI card:
and does it matter that its just 5.1 instead of 7.1.

heres another thing to consider, my room is small but its a box room and my comp is in the middle beside the wall. i guess this is ideal? for surround speakers
