Default SunTzu

Hello all, Aspire finally got me to post about my SunTzu rig, which will be replacing BadApple (

To start out here are some specs:
Intel Core i7 920
Asus Rampage II Gene mATX
3x2GB Corsair XMS3
Comming soon: GTX 280
WD Raptor 74gb boot drive
Seagate 750GB storage
all inside SilverStone SG-01 Evo

I wanted to build a mATX system for a while, lugging around the G5 gets tires some -___-; Proc and card will both be on water once I get parts in.

Now some pics of the first build (Abit IP-95 with e6600; board would eat **** at 300fsb >:[)

The SG-01 unboxing

Abit IP-95
woot it boots! but..
Something wasn't right....
Great, barely any contact btwn HS and TIM
I like to take pics, okay!
Sexy Finish

And then some pics of i7 stuff and more building:

Here's the i7 when I got it

NewEgg box of goodies
Rampage II Gene, one of two mATX boards available for i7
Corsair XMS3
purty socket
This bar bends a lot....
Sloppy cable management is better than none.
Just barely going to be enough room for the pump and GTX 280
8800GT test fit (and temporarily in there) Had to take off old water block and ramsinks to put Akimbo cooler back on
8pin power just barely fit in
Going to be tight
Woot it boots!

Sexy BitsPower fittings:

Lastly, here's the layout for water:

And the bracket I need to make to mount the pump:

That's certainly an elaborate documentation of building your comp! O_O

Also sketchup looks interesting.

Yes it will, but I am sure that the card will fit. Something I forgot to mention though, I will loose use of the bottom PCI slot because I am going to mount my 240rad on the outside of the right side window, and the fans on the inside. You can sort of tell this from the diagram I drew with airflow and tubing and what not.
I was mostly worried about tubing not being able to make it around, but after playing with some of the 3/8" tubing I have, and combined with the 45 degree rotaries, I really don't think it will be a problem.
The only major issue is: where am I putting my HDs? :| The stock location is in a holder underneath the 5.25" bay, but that has to be removed to fit the pump.

Man, I forgot to mention so much stuff, guess I was tired last night. In addition to mounting the fans on the inside of the top panel and the rad on the outside, it makes running tubing very interesting. To get around this I am going to use quick disconnects between the GPU block and pump and then also between the CPU block and rad. Right now I'm just waiting on those and the GTX280 to arrive and then I'll be able to start

You can get fit the hdd in the 5.25" bay and put a slimline drive in like so
With draw

Have the hdd hiding under the slimline drive and everything will be ko

Slot loading drives are expensive :X
I should be able to fit both drives on the bottom of the case under neath the 5.25" bay, may not be as quiet as I want, but oh well.

I also decided that I was going to make things easier on myself, but not my wallet
Picked up another male to male nipple to go between the pump and the radiator instead of two micro or stubbies fit together. This will hold the pump in place, but I'll still be making the bracket for extra support. And two stubbies to go between the gpu and quick disconnect male and between the quick disconnect female and enzotech brick to reduce length.

I've also realized that I need a litteral loop of tubing between the GPU an pump so I can actually slide the outside of the case back. No biggie, it might even help with the tight fittingness.

I feel like I should set up an open account at Petra's Tech Shop. :\
