suggest new cpu config

Hi all.

I am a graphics designer by profession, and I want to upgrade from my P4 512MB RAM machine to a faster and stronger one.

For that, I've recently purchased Nvidia 7900GTX graphic card.

Two options I have for my machine are:

Option 1:

Intel P4 3.06 dual core
1 MB cache
Intel's D102 motherboard

Option 2:

Intel P4 3.00
2 MB cache
Intel's D102 motherboard

Also Intel's latest mother board is i945.

Please suggest me which configuration is better suited for me.

well if u can wait one week for the release of the Intel Core 2 duo, go with that. from benchmarks it has proved to take back the throne from AMD. if u dont want to get the intel core 2 duo, in a week, then get an AM2 Rig.

Yeah, wait for Conroe and pick up of the lower end CPUs. Even in you don't go COnroe or AM2, prices on your current CPUs in the original post should drop.
