How much would a computer cost if you were to build it that had the BEST of everything possible?
It really depends on how you define 'best'. If you mean a gaming rig them about 5K for top of the line everything.

AMD X2 4800+
SLI or Crossfire graphics solution
2GB overclocking memory
water cooling
a massive 2TB RAID array
19" LCD
5.1 surround sound

If you want a server you could easily spend 10K or more on opterons and 8gigs of ram ect.

i went to this one site and managed to get like 20k worth of a comp.

specs were
dual dual core opterons
2 7800 gtx
super dooper mobo thing
8 gigs of ram
3 raptors, the fastest ones, i forget the rpm.
a 30" lcd display-8000 dollars on its own
two 850 watt power supply's
water cooling on everything\
top of the line mouse and stuff, like 500 dollar speakers

sorry for crappy details

Dont be cheap, get some SCSI's @ 15,000rpm

Make it 2 $8000 screens. And two SATA optical drives And more hard drive space, like 4 more 500GB HDD. :D

Getting so many parts into your computer might not be a good idea because of the overheating, if you want a good usable computer that you cna bring to lan parties, 5K should get you the latest everything.

You can actually save ALOT money if you just used headphones instead of a 200 dollar speaker system and also save couple hundred on the sound card. SCSI HDs are good, but any Raid drive under 200 dollars is just as good if all you're doing is gaming. You can get cases that come with water cooling for like 300 dollars.

Is it good to have your computer out with no case? will that help the overheating? and i already have a monitor, speakers, i can use the case from my old comp maybe? my cd and dvd drives are probly fine?

mm quad opterons
16GB of ram
8 15k hdds in like raid 10 or whatever lol
quad 7800GTX
petlzier cool or whatever like 1000 dollars
PCPandC 1kilowatt power supply

i think you kind of get it

No you wouldnt. For a nice set of headphones, you would actually spend $200 or more. Take for example the Grado SR-225:

Or the sennheiser HD600:

Or if you really have some money burning a hole in your pocket:

Head over to head-fi.org if you ever want to know more about high-end headphones.
