Im looking at these:
Newegg.com - Buy Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
I like the p35 chipset but I'm not sure about the difference between Intel ICH9 and Intel ICH9R. Any recommendations?

Intel will be offering three variants of ICH9, instead of the two ICH variants in recent history. As in the past, there will be a standard ICH9 that leaves out RAID support—what Intel dubs Matrix Storage Technology. Above that is the ICH9R, which integrates RAID support.

ICH9 supports only 4 SATA ports, and doesn't implement Intel Matrix Storage. ICH9DH ("DH" for "Digital Home") adds two more SATA ports, plus Intel Matrix Storage technology (without RAID.) It also supports Intel's ViiV multimedia capability. Finally, ICH9R adds the above, plus RAID.

I think the difference between ICH9 and the R version is that, the R supports more USB and SATA ports, with more RAID options. And I believe the R version also, has that Intel Turbo Memory technology.

edit: The Major beat me to it...

I don't think it's that big of a deal in the real world. It's more big of a deal in Super Pi, though. I could be wrong.
