I am trying to get 4.5GHz on air I7-920 and I am wondering if It would be a good idea to replace the thermal paste on The north and South Bridge of an Evga X58 using Tunic TX-2. Or is it not really neccassary?
On the northbridge, definitely. What mobo do you have? You might run into more issues with the size of the northbridge heatsink before thermal paste really becomes an issue.
you shouldn't need to change the paste to hit 4.5Ghz, but you might need an extra fan near the base area of the cpu.. Again though, changing the paste can't do any harm.
Well I will have 8 Fans in Total 5 bringing Cool air in and 3 Taking the hot air out. Is the North Bridge heatsink/fan pretty easy to take off and access for Thermal Paste?
You'll be able to find a few pictures of the EVGA X58-A1 disassembled here. You should be able to hit 4.5GHz without any problems, but being stable is a whole new issue.
