Default Soundblaster Audigy SE

Will this remove CPU Overhead for sound and hopefullly improve sound quality? Its going for like 40 bucks at ncix and I'm thinking of picking it up to improve gaming performance.

This is the Audigy SE, not the Audigy 2 or anything,

if anything, I'd get the Audigy 2 Value.

$40 at newegg

although the X-Fi cards really take load off the CPU, as well as increase sound quality. they come with I think 64MB of onboard memory to buffer sounds.
but they're pretty expensive though

In short, no. buying sound cards today for freeing up CPU resources is not a good reason to buy one because unlike 486's back in the day, a sound card won't double your performance. Like what Running said, 1 or 2 fps. An Audigy 1 for $40 is a rip-off. you might as well buy a Live! 24-bit for $25. If you want good sound quality buy at least an Audigy 2 ZS, prefferably an X-Fi.

Quote from NewEgg's FAQ:

Does Newegg.com ship internationally?
Newegg.com does not currently ship internationally; we only deliver to locations within the United States and to Puerto Rico.
No, not yet.
