Sound Card Upgrade

OK, I have a nice PC at the moment, plays games very well, but I want to upgrade my sound card. The internal one isn't that great. I have a 6 channel surround sound speaker system. Can you configure 8 channel sound cards to work with 6 channel speakers? Thanks for the help!

Yes you can, it would be in the program/utilities that came with your soundcard or computer. Thats where I can adjust mine. If your looking to upgrade, go with the new X-Fi's if those are to much, I just got myself a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, for about 93$ on newegg. Thats for retail though, you could buy OEM for about 70$ I believe.
