Default sound card swap...is it possible?

My old Dell computer came with an installed sound card, would I be able to install it on this new system I built or does it all depend on the mother board?
I would hate to see something that I could possibly use go to waste...

I just Googled the system and it says that it has an AC97 so the card must be after market. Id say that its 99% guaranteed that it will work.

If you're running Win7 it should automatically download drivers
