Hey all, new to the forums. Long time lurker. Haven't built a new computer in probably 6 years, things have changed... a lot. Anyway, I want to play Fallout 3, so I think its time for a new computer. I'm looking at hardware that would at least put me slightly ahead of the curve for a while, maybe lasting 2 years until i have to replace it. Just for reference, this one I'm typing on I've had for over 3 years... do they still make Pentium 4's? :)

Ok, cruised around Newegg, which has become quite addicting, and put this system together real quick. Once again, looking for midrange, maybe little better.

Plus a case, optical, HDD, etc... Am I at least in the right area as far as parts are? And also, I've been seeing alot about the 260 OC'd beating 280's?

Yeah I would, but just a standard SATA 7200 HDD, DVD optical drive etc. Really I'm looking for some opinions on the CPU/MoBo/Memory combos, and the GTX280.

Well, I would say go with the gtx 260 core 216 over the 280 unless you don't care about money. The cpu looks good to me. I'm no expert on ram or mobos though, so I wouldn't know the best kinds to get.
