I'm thinking of putting 2 cd-rom drives in my new system. I wonder, do you all think it would be more practicle to buy 1 DVD/R+RW drive for all burning and then a cheaper plain CD-ROM for just loading any software (since the drive you use the most seems to go out the fastest).
OR
Do you think I should go with 2 DVD/R+RW drives to be able to burn on the fly (the ones that will do it anyways).

Use a dual-layer DVD burner and a regular DVD drive.

yep, dual-layer DVD drive is the way to go that's for sure...

Any suggestions on a particular brand?

Sony, NEC, Samsung, Phillips.....don't make too much of a difference when it comes to drives
