Does anybody have an opinion on the quality of the onboard sound of the DS3? I'm considering building a Home Theater/Gaming PC. I'll be putting 2 TV tuner cards in and I don't want to fill last expansion slot with a sound card (you never know what else is going to come along that you might want!) if the Realtek audio is good enough. I'll be hooking the audio int an Onkyo TX-NR901 w/ Bose Acoustimass 10 series IV.

I'm sorry if this is considered thread jacking. I figure it's part of his build, and others might have some thoughts. Thanks for any comments.

A stand alone sound card is always going to give better sound over onboard, especially if you get a really good one like the X-fi series

I won't be using the onboard sound. I will be reusing (Among other parts) my audigy 2 ZS.

I too have a dream... to upgrade my computer when I have the money...but that dream will not come true for a long while... so I will be only upgrading my Video card cuz like someone told in another thread sometime ago, X2 aren't slow, so there is no point for me to upgrade CPU an everything else as of this moment.

BTW, Very nice setup indeed .

Yeah, after thinking about it amd seeing these replies, I think for what I want, it will be better for me to get a dedicated sound card. Thx for the replies.
