im not the resident expert on video cards. i've never had an x1950 card, so i dont know if it is better than the 7900gs. i did have a 7900gs (actually 2 of them in SLI) and i really liked them. i had an hd2900 and thats how i got experience with ati's user interface and overclocking utilities.
by the way your mobo doesnt need to be anything special to overclock your video card, you do it thru software.
i think the 7900gs uses a little less power than the 1950. not sure. anyone?
