I am building a new machine and have $200 left for video cards. I have two old vf-700 and a vf-900 coolers left over from other builds. Would these fit on two 8600 gt's and is it worth getting these and overclocking them while playing at a resolution of 1680x1050. Basically, would I see similar fps to a 7900 GTX?

I guess you cant read.... 200$..... I only got $600 to build a new computer and my parents dont want to put any money in nor get me the parts or a new computer for x-mas. So my question again, Sli'ed 8600 gt's or is there any other options for $200.

Not only are the all out of stock on newegg but the cheapest one is $270. Now I know im not a mathematician, but $270>$200. Also 8600 gt=100$. $100x2=$200 $270 is still greater than $200. Look guys, I need a simple answer. Here lets play Madlibs, sli 8600 gt's or ________ for $200 or under.

if you can save up 40 more dollars (which you would get back in rebate) you could get
Newegg.com - Foxconn FV-N79SM2D2-OC GeForce 7900GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
and SLI them. much better i think than 8600's. they are 200 dollars (for both) after the 40 dollar rebate.
if you just ABSOLUTELY cant spend more than 200 bucks, maybe investigate this instead of the 8600's:
Newegg.com - XFX PVT71JYPF4 GeForce 7950GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
its possible it would perform on par, but probably not quite as well as 2 8600gt. im not the card guru though, its just some options.
obviously the 8600's are DX10 but i assume they will struggle with any DX10 title, so that is a moot point.
LOL i just noticed that you already have the 7950GT in your current machine.
really i guess it would depend on your OS and what games you play.

stick with your OCed 7950GT. It will perform better than the 8600's. The 8600's are a waste of money at this point. If you can't afford to get and 8800 series card but you want a DX10 card than look at the ATI 2900GT.

The 8800GTS 320s have come down in price - if you can get one cuz they r discontinued. But they should be around $200. SLI 8600GTs is just a waste.
