single cores r better for gaming as of now and dual core for future.

but about dual core in the future, will games be all dual core and no more single core games?

A 2.2GHz single core CPU and a 2.2GHz dual core CPU will perform on par in current games. In future games however such as UT2007 and anything based on the Unreal Engine 3, the dual core CPU will far outperform the single core CPU.

if the 2.2 single core and 2.2 dual core perform around the same, but teh 2.2 dual core will beat it out in everything else other then gaming, then why go for the single core?

Games will soon be able to utilize both cores to run better on dual core system. And if the coders made the games right, then there will be only slight loses of performance for single cores. Maybe 1-2 frames in games.

Yeah, but what if the newer games that utilize dual cores suck... and i want to play CSS or BF2? :(. I know for a fact that Morrowind won't suck and it will use both cores, but it is all singleplayer =/.

That is not true at all. When a game is multithreaded, it means if you have 2 CPUs (or a dual core CPU), each core will excute a thread at once, effectively doubling the speed of the CPU (theoretically). A single core CPU can simply not keep up with the theoretical speed gains of multi-cpu.
