This is what I would recommend, it will max out FEAR.
Total: $1,496.91

See how much more you can get by building yourself? Contact your friend, have him help you. Watch him build it, it's a good learning experience.

Case- Centruion 5- $40
CPU- Intel Core Duo 2 E6600- $320
Mobo- ASUS P5B- $150
RAM- pqi TURBO 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667- $215 ($175 with a $40 mail in rebate)
Optical Drive- Samsung DVD Burner x2- $60
Hard Drive- WD 320GB 16MB SATA300- $105
Video Card- eVGA GeForce 7950 GT 512MB- $290
Operating System- Windows XP Pro Upgrade- $85
Monitor- BenQ FP202W- $285

Total- $1550

I think the build above is a little better.

2gb ram
dvd burner
xfx geforce 7900gt
win xp pro
rest for monitor, ill check newegg, brb in about 45min

ditch the 7900gt if your already spending the money go with a 7950gt

everything is lookin good, but ive been told many times by different ppl that i should go with AMD over intel. Is this a preferance thing or is this supported by fact

It is definitely supported by fact that the Core 2 Duo line of processors are the best in the world as of now.
