But...it would keep me from having to build a whole new system just to jump on the PCI-E bandwagon.

i would stick with the 6800.. SLI isn't all that hot yet.. very few games support it. if you are going to get SLI you'd prob wanna get a whole new system 939 processor, and a board that can support 4200 or higher dual channel.

the nf3 chipset sucked with the 6xxx....I assumed it'd be worse with the 7xxx, buuuuuuut ehhhhhhh, don't know.

I think i will just let the 6800GT come in, then build from scratch next fall...I will have a better system in the long run from building clean than trying to work my way from the system I have now to a new one part by part.

Dump your mobo, pick up an Ultra-D, a 3000/3200+ Venice and a PCIe 6800GT. Never look back. You can always sell your old parts on eBay. You could also sell your X800 pro on eBay.
