with that mb, you can go into BIOS "CPU Level up" and just click on he 4th option labled "crazy". that should automatically OC your CPU and RAM.

I might stay away from any 64 bit operating system now. If you want Vista, get 32 bit instead of 64. But I just use XP Media Center Edition 2005, and it works. Yes, when you overclock your q6600, your RAM speed will go up. But you'll have to make sure your RAM doesn't speed up too much, or the system wont boot, so you'll have to mess with the RAM divider in your BIOS. But you'll figure it all out once you have your rig.

Why do you say that? If he wants 4gb in the future then he'll have to buy Vista 64!

and if he wants to play the newest games on a higher setting with vista 4gb will really help.

I just hear of vista x64 conflicting with drivers ect. for some things. Also, by the time games start taking advantage of 4GB of memory, that ram will be outdated.

1 x Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 8MB Retail Box (which i will overclock)
1 x ASUS Maximus Formula SE LGA775 X38 ATX DDR2 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 2PCI 2GBLAN 1394A SATA RAID Motherboard (hopefully helps me overclock)
1 x Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit (good enough for now)

Corsair 520 is more than enough for that system even if u oiverclocked a lot...
