Hey guys, thanks for your posts! ^_^
***************************************************************
there are a couple of alternatives for the hard drives that would give you better performance.
Thanks for the suggestion about the Samsung drive. Even though I wont leave WD because of reasons of trust, your suggestion DID make me do a lot of research about the HD's I had chosen. Here's what I learned:
1) I compared the 500GB OS drive I used to have on my list with some larger drives and this is what I found:
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
Apparently the only difference between them is their size... meaning I just got 250GB for FREE ^_^
2) Here is another thing I learned about WD's naming scheme (Black vs Blue vs Green)
green = low power / low performance
blue = medium power / medium performance
black = high power / high performance
I don't know if that is 100% accurate, but that quote coupled with the information found in this comparison makes me steer clear of "green".
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
A) I know that the "Features" section is mostly filled with fluff... but they don't have one things they're proud of with that "green" drive.
B) The "Green" drive doesn't specify 7200RPM, so I must assume its lower than that.
C) Yes it is a 1TB drive for only $85, but im not so desperate for storage space that I'd give up efficiency... which... btw... brings us to our next point ^_^...
3) Knowing what I now know about "Green" drives, & referring back to the previous 'comparison'. we see that the "Black" 1TB is pretty nice and fancy, however.... My current computer has (1) 160GB HD in it, and I've yet to fill up, so I'd rather save the $40 and just get a second 750GB.
In conclusion... I feel that it is a smart move to get 2 of these:
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Kingston will be releasing a 40gb SSD using a Intel controller
I read up on that, sounds pretty freaking cool actually! ^_^ the perfect OS drive. I am a fan of kingston, however. I'm scared enough as it is to be purchasing Windows 7 before SP1 is out, so I'll have to pass on testing the waters with new technology

Some mid tower cases should have enough room but a lot of them won't.
I mid-tower would handle it.
Lol, k, i'll make sure to stay on the fat side of mid-towers ^_^

Thanks, Clown, for the speed tests! ^_^ I think I may be suffering from all 3 of those reasons
so, what do you think about these 2 readers?
EDIT I updated the link to include 4 possible readers, please lemme know which is the better deal... cost / capability keeping in mind the 3 "Nippon Labs" readers will be less than $15 and the "Rosewell" will be $20... thanks ^_^
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! I have never heard of Nippon Labs, I can get that reader for less that $10 in a combo with my HD. however, is it worth the extra $10 to get the big named Rosewell? If so, please explain why because im to the "trimming the 'fat'" stage of this project ^_^.
I don't know what any of the gibberish is in that comparison page, but I do see that the Rosewell has 3 USB ports and the other one doesn't. but what do you think?

Here's a questions about fan's and noise... My current computer's fans are crazy loud. I admit that I got the coolest looking fans I could at the cheapest price possible and I wasn't worried about noise, but its been bothering me for years and I want this new machine to be perfect ^_^
so anyways, on to the question.
1) how "quiet" is (28.3 dBA "Ultra Quiet")
Quad Purple LED 80mm Fan at Xoxide!
2) isn't that purple just sexy?!!!! ^_^
***************************************************************
I guess I lied a few posts back, apparently I can get Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise for $10 ^_^ so I might as well get it.

what do you guys think about this?
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Intel Core i7 compatible V8 RR-UV8-XBU1-GP 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks
or is the cooler I already have really going to be adequate?
and apparently out of the thousands of computer case choices... nothing is appealing. Clown posted a few nice ones, but nothing really grabbed my attention.
you can see in my Sig that I currently have the predecessor to this guy:
Newegg.com - APEVIA X-DISCOVERY-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
I love the case I have now, the long lights on the front of the case change color, the window is big and I loaded it up with tons of bright fans ^_^
this is my problem:
I REALLY want this keyboard....
Saitek Eclipse II Illuminated Keyboard (PK02U) at Xoxide!
Purple is my favorite color so im trying to find a case that either IS... or CAN BE modded to be purple.
I have yet to track down any purple 120mm fans, but I can get these:
12in Dual Purple Cold Cathode Kit at Xoxide!
Quad Purple LED 80mm Fan at Xoxide!
i've been looking around for hours now trying to find a case that I can mod to be what I want it to be and im not having any luck. kinda makes me sad.
