Hi guys,

Hope I'm posting this question in the correct forum. I'm an employee of a financial institution where some of the staff's daily work consists of data-entry - primarily entering information from faxes into a series of custom-built MS Access databases. My team have programmed a number of these databases and they're currently working quite well but one of the frequent requests we receive from database users is if there's a way to scan the information from paper documents into Access tables. This sounds pretty sophisticated and I'm not sure if it's possible at all. But if it is, it would make a hugely positive impact on our business and I was wondering if anyone knew of any scanners or scanning software that could be programmed to select specific pieces of data from a scanned image and convert the data into information that can then be stored in Access. Does any technology of this sort exist? (Sorry if this is a really "newbie" question)

Thanks
