umm im pretty sure they are rating the sata speed in gigabit not gigabyte.. so in that case sata II is 3Gb which means about 360MB/s but they actually state it to be more like 300MB/s theoretical max.

Yeah, you are right. It is Gb not GB/s. I still find 300 MB/s a bit high, though. yeah, it is capable of such speeds but there is no way it can obtain it with the current RPMs and hardware/software support.
