Default SATA Controller?

Change of question:

I finally found the jumper on my seagate 7200.10 HD, should I remove it to set it to 3 Gbits/sec or should I keep it limited at 1.5 Gbits/sec I ask this because my WD Raptor 150 gig was built to go at 1.5 Gbits/sec and Im wondering if theres any compatability problems

because I wanted the hard drives 10k rpm performance and I didn't want the hassle of Raiding or increase risk of data loss and I can afford the raptor, heck its only 165 after MIR. Anyways I removed the jumper but what I don't understand is how does it even work? Since I'm not plugging anything into that thing, only the SATA power plug and SATA connector.

Removing the jumper makes data transferring faster.
