SATA 3gb VS SATA 6gb?

I have the WD Caviar Black 640gb (64mb cache) 7200rpm, SATA 6 drive, and while the 6gb/s is fast, even that drvie, being mechanical, can't keep up with that fast of a connection.

As fast as you can afford. Seriously. Newer SSD models are pushing closer to 300MB/s, while OCZ's RevoDrive X2's are hitting up to 740MB/s. One review stated that it took a RevoDrive X2 8 seconds to get into Windows vs 44 seconds for a regular hard drive.

that all just blows my mind, just curious but how fast are solid state?

Basically fast enough that they are worth it. I've owned several different ones and they have all blown away conventional hard drives.

Should you decide to go with one I'm going to go against the grain and suggest Intel SSD's. They aren't the fastest but they are the most reliable by a very large margin and are still more than fast enough.
