Default Sapphire Toxic 5850 or Fermi 470? For new AMD build?

The final component in my 2010 AMD PC build is the graphics card which has been the most tedious so far. I can't decide between a Sapphire Toxic 5850 and a Fermi 470 graphics card. Both offer similar performance (though i have read 470's are just a bit above) and cost about the same $350-$390. Any opinions?

System:
ASUS M4A88TD-EVO
AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4Ghz
G.Skill 4GB DDR3 1600 CL8
Graphics card? ASUS Fermi 470 or Sapphire Toxic 5850
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s
Corsair TX650W
Antec 902
other non-important components (DVD drives, fans, etc.)

If you lean towards the 5850, you don't HAVE to get the Toxic. Just saying, cause it would save you a bunch of money. An XFX 5850 can be had for $280 w/ free shipping at newegg.com.

Go with a 5870 not a 5850, the cheaper 5870's are around $390, go up around $420 if you want one with a nicer cooling unit (Sapphire cut corners on their cheapest 5870 by using a lower end heatsink, but it is $390 vs $420).

If you get fermi prepare for 80% fan speed when in use. Its dying for an aftermarket cooler.

thanks for all of the replies everyone! i looked in to other 5850's on newegg and it seems as though almost all of them are, well, gone and newegg no longer retails them! imagine that! i have decided to go with an ATI chipset but am curious as to if i should spend the extra $40 and get a 5870?

the 5870 is the single GPU flag ship of ATI Radeon. it their FASTEST single GPU graphics card, the only (Radeon) Graphics card that is faster than it is the 5970.

i say, it is with out a doubt in my mind worth the extra $40.

If you only see a difference of $40 then yes it's definitely worth it

Yeah, the 5870 is the fastest ATi graphics processor around, second fastest graphics processor in all (the GTX480 is the only one that is faster). The only card from ATi that is faster than a 5870 is the 5970, which is basically two 5870 chips on one graphics card in CrossFireX.

ATi's chips also support Eyefinity, a new technology that lets you play games across 3 (or more if you use CrossFire or a special edition card) monitors. I didn't think much of it when I bought my 5870 but now I'm really considering buying 2 more monitors for it.
